Start your year on a bookish high by heading along to the Mandurah Readers and Writers Festival. This four day event will have lively panel discussions, readings, thought provoking in-conversations and much more.

Thursday 13 January

First Novels 6 – 7.30 pm

The Mandurah Readers & Writers Festival opens with a lively panel discussion between Mel Hall, Maria Papas and Emma Young sharing their experiences of having their first novels published. A light supper will be provided at 6 pm followed by a panel discussion.

Saturday 14 January

Eye of a Rook with Josephine Taylor 9.30 – 10.30 am

Josephine Taylor’s novel Eye of the Rook, was born from her own journey of dealing with debilitating pain and her research to understand more. Her novel links present day Alice with the story of Emily in Victorian England, told through the eyes of Emily’s husband Arthur as he struggles to understand his wife’s condition.

Josephine will be in conversation with Amanda Curtin.

Forgotten Histories with Stella Budrikis and Leigh Straw 11 am – 12 pm

Come along for a fascinating conversation between Leigh Straw, author of The Petticoat Parade and Stella Budrikis, author of The Edward Street Baby Farm on the forgotten histories in Perth’s pasts.
