Crime novelist Alan Carter debuts Prize Catch across Tasmania
Award-winning author Alan Carter is lifting the lid on the Tasmanian salmon industry in his new novel Prize Catch. In October, Alan will be discussing his latest action thriller set in Tasmania.
Prize Catch is set against the backdrop of environmental degradation by salmon farms. Carter said, ‘You can’t live in Southern Tasmania’s Channel country and fail to notice all the salmon farms along the coastline. Nor swim in the ocean and notice the lack of marine life close to shore.’
In Prize Catch, SAS veteran Sam Willard lands a job at a salmon farm targeting environmental activists. Meanwhile, allegations surface about his military history as Ros Chen mourns the hit-and-run death of her partner Niamh. In her search for the truth and Sam’s fight for survival, both find themselves in the Tasmanian wilderness with murderous thugs on their trail.
Alan will be discussing Prize Catch across Tasmania during October. You can find him in conversation with international correspondent Peter George on Wednesday 2 October at 5.30 pm at Fullers Bookshop. Details: here.
