Join the CBCA-winning author Kelly Canby at the State Library of Western Australia Young Readers Day Out
Award-winning author and illustrator Kelly Canby will be the lively host and MC for the Young Readers Day Out, presented by The Society of Children’s Book Writers and held at the State Library of Western Australia on 17 November.
The stacked program includes Rebecca M. Newman, the talented editor and curator of Right Way Down, which the CBCA praised as ‘a collection of poems ideal for primary school libraries.’ Also in attendance is the fabulous Chenée Marrapodi, the author behind the hit middle-grade series One Wrong Turn and Breaking Pointe. Writing WA calls her work ‘an uplifting story about family and culture, friendship and connection, teamwork and belonging, all while sparking important conversations about topics like financial hardship and chronic illness.’ Lastly, the festivies will feature Renae Hayward, the Fremantle Press Books for Little Bookaburras ambassador and the creative mind behind children’s board books, Say Hooray and Say Hello, which teaches babies crucial communication skills through the fun of story time.
Families and children will have a blast with a variety of engaging activities, including interactive illustration workshops and fun ‘duels’ where budding writers can learn tips and tricks from the pros. Plus, there’s the chance to buy books and get them signed, thanks to Boffins Books.
You won’t want to miss this day full of creativity, inspiration, laughter and meaningful stories! The full program and lineup is available via the State Library of Western Australia website here.
