Jen will assess your manuscript of fiction, creative nonfiction or short story collection of up to 70,000 words. YA and adult works only, any genre apart from high fantasy. Jen will assess structure (plot, pace, character, organisation, etc.) to help guide you on the next draft of your manuscript. Also includes a one-to-one meeting to discuss feedback after the assessment.
Jen is an academic, writer, journalist, editor, podcaster and event moderator based in Perth, WA. Originally from North-East England, her journalism has been published in a wide variety of UK publications including the Guardian, the Scotsman, The Bookseller and the List. She is a regular reviewer for Westerly magazine and has previously worked for Fremantle Press as well as a number of UK publishing houses including Hachette. She now works as a freelance editor and publishing consultant, and teaches publishing, creative writing and journalism at Curtin University. She has a PhD in creative writing, exploring biases against Northern dialect and fiction in the UK book industry.
