Submissions

Submit your manuscript

Fremantle Press welcomes unsolicited manuscripts from authors of Western Australian origin or whose main place of residence is Western Australia. Work by non–Western Australian authors will be considered when the subject matter has a strong Western Australian focus. This applies to all genres we publish.

We accept manuscripts in the genres of non-fiction, fiction and narrative non-fiction, poetry, and books for children and young adults. We also welcome portfolio submissions from photographers and illustrators.

Submissions may only be made electronically. We accept manuscripts via the Submittable website. We will acknowledge receipt of your manuscript and will endeavour to review all submissions within ten weeks. Please check your junk mail folder during this time. If there is interest in your submission, you will be contacted within this period. Otherwise, you will receive an automatic email advising you that unfortunately we are not able to accept your manuscript for publication. We thank you for the opportunity to consider your work.

NOTE: Unsolicited submissions for poetry re-opened on 1 March 2024 and will close at the end of April.

Agents and returning authors can contact  admin@fremantlepress.com.au or the relevant publisher for information on how to submit. If you are a Western Australian writer who is yet to have published in book-length form, please consider entering the City of Fremantle Hungerford Award (see below).
