Fremantle Press at Frankfurt
Fremantle Press returned to the Frankfurt International Book Fair in October for four days packed with networking and selling rights to international buyers.
Foreign Rights Manager Clive Newman reported that the Fair had been ‘the most successful in five years’ for Fremantle Press.
Almost forty meetings with foreign publishers and agents were held with Newman and Emerging Arts Professional Kiri Falls.
Strong interest was shown in Fremantle Press’ young adult list, and particular interest in Wayne Ashton’s second novel, Equator, which will be published in 2010.
The publishers and agents represented countries such as Italy, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, India and China. Some of these international colleagues were new contacts, while others have had a long association with the Press.
Visitor numbers at the Fair were down somewhat from 2008 but, like most Australian publishers, Fremantle Press was as busy as ever.
‘There was less traffic down the aisles, but those who were there were serious about buying,’ said Newman.
