Media Statement: R.I.P. Louise Schofield
Children’s author Louise Schofield has died after a long battle with cancer. A former senior journalist with The Australian, Louise was the author of ten books including Zoo Room and Secrets in the Tingle Forest.
Children’s Publisher Cate Sutherland said Louise was an inspiring author who will be remembered for her commitment to the arts.
“Louise was more than just a talented author – she was also the founder of the Mundaring HeARTlines Festival – a month-long celebration of children’s literature and book illustration held every second year,” said Sutherland.
“Her generosity in promoting the work of her peers – the authors and children’s book writers of Western Australia – will not be forgotten,” she said.
Louise Schofield’s Secrets in the Tingle Forest won the Western Australian Young Readers Book Award and was shortlisted for a Wilderness Society Award for Children’s Literature in 2004.
Staff at Fremantle Press wish to extend their condolences to her family and friends.
