Cristy Burne hits the road on Russ the Story Bus!
Off the Track and To the Lighthouse author Cristy Burne has got her own wheels in the form of Sydney Writers’ Festival’s Russ the Story Bus.
The Fremantle Press author will be jumping aboard for a five-day tour of schools in rural New South Wales, where she’ll be giving 30-minute talks to excited pupils before they get to explore the bus and take home a book.
Cristy said, ‘I’m super excited to be jumping on board Russ the Story Bus. It’ll be wonderful to visit so many new schools and see new faces in New South Wales and explore the magic of books with everyone there.’
The tour kicks off on Sunday 25 November and runs until Friday 30 November. Cristy will be talking to school students about To the Lighthouse and her latest book Off the Track. Teaching notes for both books are available on the Fremantle Press website.
Set on the Bibbulmun Track in Western Australia, Off the Track follows poor Harry as he’s dragged on a weekend camping and hiking with his mum and her best friend. The worst part is that they’re not allowed phones, but when disaster strikes, how will Harry and new friend Deepika find the grown-ups in a bush full of snakes and dangers?
Cristy will be in Sydney from 23 to 28 February and Melbourne from 18 to 19 March 2019, and will be available for school bookings during those times. But hurry, she’s booking up fast!
To the Lighthouse and Off the Track are available in all good bookstores and online at fremantlepress.com.au. Bookmarks and activity sheets for Off the Track are available to order by emailing admin@fremantlepress.com.au while stocks last.
