Check out these Fremantle Press titles being serialised in the West Australian in 2019
We’re absolutely thrilled to have not one, not two, but four of our amazing books serialised in The West Australian’s ED! supplement in 2019.
Fremantle Press has teamed up with The West Australian to bring local stories to local children and their teachers. Each term sees a new title serialised, with additional activities and resources available for subscribers. Plus, if you purchase any book featured in ED! Magazine between now and the end of Term 1 from the Fremantle Press website, you’ll get a 10% discount plus free postage on your entire web order. That means that when you get a book for the classroom, you can also get a book for you.
In Term 1, Dianne Wolfer’s In the Lamplight, the third in the Light series of picture books for middle readers, will be serialised in ED!. In the Lamplight is the story of Rose, a young woman who works as a nurse during World War I. If you’re planning on studying or reading the book in your classrooms or at home, check out the accompanying teaching notes and activity sheets available to download from our website.
In Term 2, Sally Tinker is taking over ED! as Brobot, the first book in James Foley’s S.Tinker Inc. series, is serialised. Sally is the world’s foremost inventor under the age of twelve, and this hilarious graphic novel for junior readers is perfect for encouraging comic lovers or reluctant readers to pick up a book. We’ve got teaching notes and an activity sheet available to download.
In Term 3, ED! will serialise Yasmin Hamid’s story of growing up in Sudan in the 1960s, Swimming on the Lawn. A great way to explore other cultures and voices, this is a vibrant novel for middle readers with accompanying teaching notes available for download or order some recipe cards from admin@fremantlepress.com.au.
In Term 4, Cristy Burne’s most recent book, Off the Track, will be serialised every Tuesday. A fun, informative and thought-provoking story about the perks and perils of the wilderness, the influence of technology and appreciating your family. Grab the teaching notes or download the activity sheet.
