We invite all transgender and gender diverse storytellers and readers to join us for Trans Stories Matter: a publishing industry panel discussion about transgender stories and representation. Hosted by editor and founder of Get YA Words Out, Seth Malacari (he/they), guests will include Nat Latter (they/them) from Rabble Books & Games and Fremantle Press publishers Georgia Richter (she/her) and Cate Sutherland (she/her).

Host Seth Malacari said, ‘We want to make publishing more accessible to trans and gender diverse people, to demystify the publishing process and to answer questions new and emerging writers may have. We want to establish an open dialogue – we want to hear from the community about transgender representation in books – what’s hitting the mark, what’s missing the mark and where the gaps are. This is a chance to learn, but also to have your voice heard.’

Seth said the event would take place at the Centre for Stories Story Lounge because they have been a great supporter of both Get YA Words Out and the larger LGBTQIA+ community. ‘This event is designed to be a small gathering of dedicated readers, writers, booksellers, editors, marketers and publishers, who are part of the trans community or allies who want to be a part of changing the publishing landscape.’

Trans Stories Matter: a publishing industry conversation will take place at from 2 pm to 3 pm on Saturday 12 November 2022. Tickets are free and refreshments will be provided. Go to Eventbrite to register.
