Fremantle Press welcomes Casey Mulder to the editorial team
With assistance from Creative Australia, Casey Mulder has joined Fremantle Press as an editor for the next six months. Casey will provide editorial support to deliver a robust and diverse publishing program in acknowledgment of Fremantle Press’s forthcoming 50th anniversary in 2026. The program will include significant new works celebrating the diverse voices and stories of Western Australia, as well as books from the back catalogue, which will highlight five decades of storytelling talent.
CEO Alex Allan said she was delighted to be able to welcome an editor of such calibre to the team at a significant milestone in the state’s cultural and literary history. Alex said, ‘Casey is a freelance editor and writer who has undertaken projects with local and national publishing houses of all sizes, including Magabala Books, Night Parrot Press and the Centre for Stories, as well as being an active educator. As we see it, by supporting one person in this way, Creative Australia has made an investment not only in Fremantle Press, but in the authors and readers and the whole writing community that our organisation touches. It directs us all firmly towards active reconciliation – and enhances the skills of a First Nations editor who will in turn help others develop and publish significant local stories.’
Casey said, ‘I am honoured to be working with the team at Fremantle Press – particularly focusing on First Nations stories and storytellers – and I am grateful for the opportunity to develop my skills in editing children’s and young adult literature.’
Casey commenced part-time on Tuesday 16 July 2024.
