Long-Time Volunteer Steps into Digital Publicist Role at Fremantle Press

Bianca Breen has joined Fremantle Press as a Digital Publicist, undertaking a contract for maternity leave cover for the next six months.

The new role will focus on marketing across all digital channels; coordinating social media marketing, the website and edirectmail campaigns as well as helping implement online promotions with partner organisations and distributors.

Head of Sales and Marketing Claire Miller said you would need more than two hands and ten fingers to count the number of organisations that have benefited from Bianca’s tireless commitment to books and storytellers. Claire said, ‘It was important to us to have someone who knows our brand and our books take on the role and hit the ground running. As a volunteer, Bianca has stepped in to help Fremantle Press on multiple occasions and has always been an enthusiastic supporter of our work. We are excited to have Bianca join the team – we know she’ll be an imaginative and collaborative publicist to support Fremantle Press creators.’

Bianca Breen is a reader and writer, with a particular love for fantasy and YA. In 2021, she graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Writing). She is the founder of YA for WA and previously held the position of Communications Director at the Australian Young Adult Literature Alliance (#LoveOzYA). She has had a number of short stories published and won several writing awards, including an ASA Award Mentorship. Her debut YA novel is releasing in 2025 with Stag Beetle Books.

Bianca said, ‘Fremantle Press is a very warm home for WA storytellers and stories. I feel so honoured to become a part of the team and work in an organisation that shares my values and love for literature found in our own backyards. I can’t wait to help promote and celebrate previous and upcoming works, as well as learn more about the publishing process itself.’

Bianca commenced work part-time on 5 September 2024.
