Victorian Pride Centre to dedicate Queering Kylie event to new anthology Spinning Around: The Kylie Playlist

The Victorian Pride Centre will celebrate the launch of Spinning Around: The Kylie Playlist, featuring a diverse group of queer authors, a third of whom identify as LGBTQIA+, who contributed to the anthology. This will panel will feature editor Angela Savage, and authors Christos Tsoilkas, Dmetri Kakmi, Jes Layton, and Miriam Sved.

Angela Savage’s interview in the prologue of Spinning Around: The Kylie Playlist highlights Kylie’s deep connection with the gay community, particularly in Sydney. She notes how Kylie’s evolving style and her gratitude towards this community have solidified her status as a queer icon.

At the upcoming event hosted by Angela, authors will discuss Kylie’s impact on queer culture in Australia and read from their stories inspired by her music and persona. Hares & Hyenas, a well-known queer bookshop in Melbourne, will have copies of the anthology available for purchase, and attendees will have the opportunity to meet and get their books signed by the authors. This gathering promises to celebrate Kylie’s influence and the vibrant intersection of music and queer identity.
