Croydon Library to host author Michael Earp in conversation for Transgender Awareness Week

In honour of Transgender Awareness Week, author Michael Earp will be joining Croydon Library to share their journey as a writer. The discussion will focus on the significance of trans voices in storytelling and their role as co-editor of Avast! Pirate Stories from Transgender Authors.

Avast! is the first anthology of its kind to be traditionally published in this country! It’s fiction entirely written by transgender authors, each exploring the prompt of pirates.

In a recent e-interview, Michael discussed the curation process for editing a transgender anthology, noting, ‘There were so many trans authors to choose from; it was challenging to narrow it down! The final selection included creatives we admired and whose work we loved. We were confident they would each resonate with the theme in their own unique way, allowing us to showcase a diverse range of styles and perspectives.’

Michael Earp is a non-binary writer and bookseller living in Naarm (Melbourne). They have worked in the publishing and bookselling industry as a children’s and young adult specialist for over 20 years, and are a passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ literature for young people.
