Stan Perron Charitable Foundation pledges support for Books for Little Bookaburras
The Stan Perron Charitable Foundation has renewed its support of Books for Little Bookaburras, securing the program for a further three years.
Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Elizabeth Perron AM said it was an absolute pleasure to support the Books for Little Bookaburras program. Perron said, ‘Fremantle Press does great work in providing picture books to children across WA who need them the most. How wonderful that these children get to share great stories, and that a love of these stories and books can improve their literacy and educational outcomes.’
CEO of Fremantle Press Alex Allan said she was excited about the pledge. Allan said, ‘It’s come at a crucial time. By the end of 2025, we will have distributed over 40,000 books to more than 12,000 children at the critical ages of 3 and 4 across all regions in Western Australia. We know from the feedback that these mini-libraries are providing a much-needed resources for families, and they are encouraging carers to create the unique bonds that stories are so good at developing.’
Allan said she hoped more Western Australian organisations, foundations and community members would consider investing in the program. A donation of just $60 per year is enough to provide one book pack to a Western Australian child.
Books for Little Bookaburras is supported by the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation, Hartee+Associates Architects, the Barton Family Foundation, the Wright Burt Foundation, Hesperia, Louise Jones in memory of her sister Beverley a lifelong passionate reader and Paul Jones in memory of Allan and Wendy Jones, educators.
