Get out in nature and track some wildlife

How often do you stop to observe the nature around you? In our latest activity based on Deb Fitzpatrick’s new book for young readers, students can document the birds, insects, reptiles and mammals that live near them. Get them to draw what they see, research a few facts, and compare with a friend!

Along with the activity, there are free teaching notes for Tawny Trouble also available to download here, where you will find further discussion questions and activities such as:

  • What impact did human activities have on the extinction of the thylacine?
  • Designing a poster advertising the Nannup Music Festival, considering the information, design and images that will persuade people to attend.
  • Creating a pamphlet guide to caring for an injured native bird, including a list of dos and don’ts.
