Teachers in Victoria: the Melbourne Writers Festival Schools Program takes place in May! Primary school students in Years 3 to 6 are encouraged to explore their imaginations with an inspiring mix of storytellers at State Library Victoria.

We’re thrilled that one of these storytellers is author Olivia Muscat. Olivia is a totally blind writer, actor, performer and disability activist. She lives in Naarm/Melbourne (Wurundjeri Country), Australia with her guide dog, Jemima, and uses her love for colour, joy and music to tell stories that make people want to examine their attitudes towards disabled people and difference in general. When she’s not writing, Olivia teaches children and performs on stage. Her upcoming middle grade book Annie and Maeve are Definitely Not Friends will be out in May 2026.
