Celebrating 50 years of fandom in WA, Swancon – Perth’s premier convention for lovers of science fiction, fantasy, horror, speculative fiction, board gaming, video gaming, art, cosplay, anime and geek culture – is on again from 29 May–1 June 2026 at The Pagoda in South Perth,

You can catch Fremantle Press creators Bernice Barry and Aśka at events over the weekend.

Bernice (The Names of a Hare) will be discussing the ‘toil and trouble’ of women with herbal knowledge in the 17th century, moderated by Dr Emma Hawkes.

Aśka (Stars In Their Eyes) will take you through a fun, fast-paced crash course in visual storytelling. Discover how comics work as a unique language, using images, symbols, pacing and layout to communicate ideas clearly and with impact.
