Are you listening closely? Perth Poetry Festival 2026

Join Hungerford Award winner Yirga Gelaw Woldeyes (Trials of Hope (የተስፋ ፈተና)) for Grains of Sand, an event featuring voices shaped by migration, memory, language and resilience as part of the Perth Poetry Festival. This multicultural poetry showcase brings together poets whose work crosses cultures, histories, places and lived experience, giving centre stage to powerful poetic expression from diverse communities. This event will be held on Saturday 29 August at City of Perth Library, and tickets are $25. Book here: Grains of Sand | Perth Poetry Festival 2026

Giles Watson (Eungedup) is joining fellow poet Karen Lowry for a double book launch. These are very different works, but both are grounded in close attention: to place and the living world, to memory and the body, and to what poetry can make visible when we are willing to look closely. Join us for readings, conversation and the launch of two deeply considered books. This event, on Sunday 30 August, is free to book in: Dual Book Launch | Perth Poetry Festival 2026
