In 2029, Western Australia will mark 200 years since the founding of the Swan River Colony, alongside more than 60,000 years of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander custodianship.

Through conversations, stories and community engagement, Reconciliation WA is exploring what makes Western Australia special, what we can learn from our shared history, and what legacy we want to leave for future generations.

Authors Luisa Mitchell and David Whish-Wilson will share stories and views from the shore and from the ship, bringing to life different perspectives on Western Australia’s rich, complex and diverse history through the power of storytelling.

Following the conversation, the consultation invites you to share your ideas, perspectives and aspirations for how Western Australia could mark 2029 and what lasting legacies we could create for generations to come.

The event is on Tuesday 27 October, 7.30–9.30 am at The Constitutional Centre of Western Australia.
