Gillian O’Shaughnessy is a journalist, writer, editor and facilitator from Fremantle. She spent 25 years working in News, Current Affairs and Local Radio for the ABC, presenting the Afternoon Show on ABC Perth & WA for a decade. She is an award-winning author of flash fiction. She has won the UK Reflex Press Flash Fiction Award, the WA Love to Read Local Flash Fiction Competition and was selected for the inaugural Fractured Literary Anthology Prize in the United States. Her work has been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize, the Bath Flash Fiction Award, the Oxford Flash Fiction Prize and the London Independent Story Award, among others. She has been nominated for two US Pushcart awards. Gillian is a Submissions Editor with the US flash fiction journal, SmokeLong Quarterly and in 2022 she curated Writers Weekend for Perth Festival.
