Fremantle Press appoints Grey-Smith to publisher role

Fremantle Press publishers Cate Sutherland and Georgia Richter will be joined by Naama Grey-Smith to run the publishing program at Fremantle Press from 1 November 2017. CEO Jane Fraser said the promotion was in recognition of Grey-Smith’s editorial expertise and her tireless efforts on behalf of Fremantle Press.

Fraser said the position complements and strengthens that of the other publishers. ‘Cate Sutherland specialises in children’s publishing while Georgia Richter specialises in fiction and poetry. Naama will be responsible for developing our non-fiction list while still working across the program,’ said Fraser. ‘Naama joined Fremantle Press on the Publishing Internship Program which was an APA initiative, and when that ended we decided we just had to keep her. Since then she’s been an invaluable member of the team who has worked across all genres as an editor and has managed the production of many Fremantle Press titles,’ said Fraser.

Naama Grey-Smith joined Fremantle Press in 2010, and in 2015 was appointed senior editor. She has edited award-winning fiction and non-fiction and writes for Australian Book Review. She has degrees in communications and publishing and speaks three languages. In May this year, Grey-Smith was one of twelve literary editors selected nationally to attend the Australian Publishers Association’s ninth biennial Residential Editorial Program (REP) funded by the Australia Council for the Arts and the publishing industry.
