I Love Me and We All Sleep get a makeover for book-loving infants and toddlers
Fremantle Press’s popular children’s titles I Love Me and We All Sleep will be available as board books from 1 August.
These delightful, bright and uplifting stories, written and illustrated by Sally Morgan, Ambelin Kwaymullina and Ezekiel Kwaymullina, have delighted young readers and now, says Fremantle Press Children’s Publisher Cate Sutherland, they’ve been developed for a whole new audience.
‘We’ve been noticing for a while that there is a limited amount of Australian children’s titles available in board book format,’ says Sutherland. ‘We wanted to develop these wonderfully Australian books for very young readers so that they can see themselves reflected in the vibrant diversity that these books portray.’
I Love Me by Sally Morgan and Ambelin Kwaymullina utilises rhyme, rhythm and repetition to engage younger readers and encourage them to join in. Its uplifting message about loving yourself for who you are celebrates individuality and helps build self-esteem.
We All Sleep by Sally Morgan and Ezekiel Kwaymullina celebrates the interconnectedness of people and animals as we journey through lyrical language from day to night until all the creatures are asleep beneath the stars.
The new format has already proved popular with Books+Publishing, who said, ‘The chunky, pocket format perfectly complements the bold geometric illustrations and will be a great introduction to Indigenous stories for the very young.’
I Love Me and We All Sleep board books are available from all good bookshops and fremantlepress.com.au.
