Fremantle Press is based in Walyalap, country that sits on both sides of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River), where it meets the sea – a significant gathering place for ceremonies, cultural practices, storytelling and trade. Noongar is the language of the Noongar nation and is spoken by 14 different groups across the south-west corner of Western Australia.

Barry McGuire is a Balladong, Wadjak, Noongar who has worked as a consultant and cultural advisor for local, state, and federal governments. He is a highly acclaimed visual artist, cultural ambassador, cultural educator, cultural facilitator and cultural advisor.
