David McComb formed The Triffids in 1978 in Perth. Relocating first to the eastern states and then to London in 1984, the band divided its time between Australia and Europe for the remainder of the decade, touring and recording albums. After The Triffids disbanded McComb continued writing and performing with bands – The Blackeyed Susans; The Red Ponies; Costar – and released a solo album, Love of Will, in 1994. He died in 1999 at age 36.
