Kinsella wins Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize


The 2008 Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize has gone to Fremantle Press writer John Kinsella for his poem Vixerunt.

Kinsella is the tenth poet to receive the $1500 annual award. Other winners include Louise Oxley, Kate Middleton and Jane Williams.

Bruce Dawe is one of Australia’s most popular poets. He endowed the annual $1500 award in recognition of the contribution poets make to Australian culture.

The award is administered by the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba.
