WA photographers wanted

The Press is currently seeking new Western Australian photographers with existing portfolios of work on a variety of subjects.

In recent times, the Press has worked with talented Western Australian Daniel Craig of Matsu Photography who provided the perfect images for Alan Carter’s crime novel Getting Warmer and Ray Glickman’s psychological mind-bender Reality.

Fremantle Press publisher Georgia Richter said she loved using local photographers or Western Australian images wherever possible.

‘Often a local image provides atmosphere and authenticity where a stock photograph cannot,’ said Richter.

‘Peter Docker’s Sweet One is about to go to print, and photographer Orien Harvey sent us a fabulous selection of moody Kalgoorlie images for us to match to Docker’s goldfields crime thriller,’ said Richter.

Richter said she valued the relationships the Press had developed with photographers at home.

‘We would much rather pay for cover art from real photographers using images that have great resonance because they are real,’ said Richter.
