Alan Carter sells character for Oxfam

Former Oxfam WA CEO turned crime writer Alan Carter has auctioned off the right to feature in his next Cato Kwong crime novel.

At the Freo Oxfam Quiz Night on Friday 24 October, Mr Norman Lip bid $1,000 to secure his spot as a character in Cato Kwong book four.

Alan said he had hoped to raise $100 and was surprised by the bevy of bids in support of the many wonderful Oxfam projects currently underway overseas.

So is Norman Lip a victim or a villain?

Alan’s lips are sealed: ‘That would be telling. It’s still early days, but given his generosity I’ll have to think of something a bit special.’

In the meantime, Lara Sumich, Cato Kwong and a host of Carter regulars feature in Bad Seed due out next March.
