CEO Says Bronwyn Bancroft in running for 2016 Hans Christian Andersen Award

The latest update from CEO Jane Fraser.

Acclaimed artist and Fremantle Press illustrator Bronwyn Bancroft is one of two Australian nominees for the 2016 Hans Christian Andersen Award. The award is the highest international recognition given to creators of children’s books and Bronwyn is one of just 29 illustrators nominated by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY). Bronwyn has been creating children’s books since 1993 with some 20 published to date. Coincidentally (and this really was a coincidence!), new editions of her Fremantle Press titles – Dan’s Grandpa, Just a Little Brown Dog and In Your Dreams – have just been published. The winner of the award will be announced at the 2016 Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Congratulations, Bronwyn!

In April Fremantle Press will be heading into town for two great events organised by the City of Perth. As part of Innovation Month 2015 we’ll be joining local and interstate producers of zines, comics, independent publications, artist books and printed works at the Northbridge Piazza to celebrate all things ink and paper. The event is called Fresh Prints and starts at noon on Saturday 18 April. On the weekend after, we’ll move to the Perth Cultural Centre for a three-day event called 100 Years of ANZAC. Focusing on reflection, gratitude and education, everyone is invited to participate in free outdoor displays, storytelling, dance, theatre, live music and more. The details for both events are at Visit Perth City

With last night’s launch of Harold and Grace, a 29 April launch for Liz Byrski’s In Love and War and the new Mandurah Readers & Writers Festival – April is looking BIG. Hope you can join the celebrations!
