Rothschild Prayer Book on display for the first time in 500 years

Sydney-siders have just two more days to view the Rothschild Prayer Book at the National Library of Australia before it moves to Melbourne.

Our CEO Jane Fraser was lucky enough to have an early viewing of this masterpiece as part of a Fremantle Press custom publishing project: Revealing the Rothschild Prayer Book c. 1505–1510. Made in Belgium during the Flemish Renaissance, the book was lost for many years, rediscovered in the Rothschild Collection and then stolen by the Nazis. It’s current home is here in Australia as part of the Kerry Stokes Collection.

Listen as Dr Kate Challis tells the tale on RN Books and Arts.

You can buy copies of Revealing the Rothschild Prayer Book c. 1505–1510 on our website. Illuminated manuscript expert Dr Kate Challis will be giving a talk about the Rothschild Prayer Book at the Melbourne Writers Festival. The book is at the National Library of Australia till Sunday and at the Ian Potter Museum of Art from Friday 28 August.
