Fremantle Press’s Wendy Jenkins recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours

Fremantle Press congratulates our own Wendy Jenkins, who was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Wendy was recognised for her significant service to literature as an author, editor and publisher, and to mentoring and developing Australia’s literary community.

Wendy said, ‘I am honoured to accept this award for my work in writing and publishing. Editing has been at the centre of my working life, and I have been privileged to be present at the emergence and unfolding of some of this state’s, and this nation’s, most defining voices, stories and talents. It has been work of quiet passion, from which I have gained more than I have given. I accept this award in the belief that it also honours the past and continuing work of Fremantle Press, and Western Australia’s writing sector, at this challenging and vital time in publishing and national life. Stories, words and place have never mattered more.’

The Queen’s Birthday Honours list recognises the achievements and contributions of Australians from a diverse range of fields.
