Dianne Wolfer heads to Sydney for the CBCA NSW Kids Book of the Year Awards

Fremantle Press author Dianne Wolfer will be starring among the bright lights of Sydney when she appears at the Children’s Book Council of Australia New South Wales Branch 2018 Kids Book of the Year Event.

Dianne, author of the Light Trilogy which includes Lighthouse Girl, Light Horse Boy and In the Lamplight, will be the guest speaker at the awards ceremony where the CBCA will name the winners and honour books in the Book of the Year Awards.

Dianne said, ‘I’m honoured to be presenting at the CBCA NSW 2018 Kids Book of the Year Event. I can’t wait to hear student reviewers talk about their favourite shortlisted titles and I’m really looking forward to sharing my passion for historical story-writing.’

When asked for sneak peek at what she might be talking about, she said, ‘As this year’s Book Week theme is “Find Your Treasure”, I thought I’d talk about digging for treasure in historical fiction. I’ll be talking about some of the background details I’ve discovered about treasures I’ve found while researching my books, and I also hope to hear about the treasures other people have found in stories.’

The event audience will be made up of children from schools across Sydney who have reviewed books in the Younger Readers and Older Readers Book of the Year categories.

The CBCA NSW 2018 Kids Book of the Year Awards will take place on Friday 17 August at the NSW Teachers Federation Conference Centre in Sydney.
