Fremantle Press has double success with two books making the 2019 CBCA Notables list

Fremantle Press authors Kelly Canby and Dianne Wolfer have both seen their 2018 books heralded as Children’s Book Council of Australia Notable Books.

The Hole Story by Kelly Canby has been named a Notable Book in the Picture Book of the Year category, while In the Lamplight by Dianne Wolfer, the third in the Light trilogy, got the nod in the Younger Readers section.

Kelly said, ‘I’m very honoured and excited to be on the Notables list with so many talented WA creators. Australia has a rich pool of children’s authors and illustrators, many of them coming from the west. It’s wonderful to be in such great company.’

This is the third time on the Notables list for author Dianne Wolfer, whose books Lighthouse Girl and Light Horse Boy have both been recognised in previous years.

Dianne said, ‘I couldn’t be more delighted! I’m thrilled and honoured to be on the Notables list alongside so many talented creators, and even more so that it’s for the third time. How wonderful that In the Lamplight now joins its counterparts, Light Horse Boy and Lighthouse Girl in the CBCA Notables hall of fame.’

The Notables list is the first step in the CBCA Children’s Book of the Year Awards. The announcement of the shortlist usually appears in late March and the winner is announced during a ceremony held in August.

The awards first began in 1946 and are the longest running book awards in Australia.

The Hole Story by Kelly Canby and In the Lamplight by Dianne Wolfer are available to buy online at www.fremantlepress.com.au and in all good bookstores.
