About the author
Helen Milroy is a descendant of the Palyku people of the Pilbara region of Western Australia, but was born and raised in Perth. She now practices as a doctor and is the Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Western Australia, where she also gained her degree.
You’ll recognise her as the author of heartwarming children’s book Wombat, Mudlark and Other Stories, a book which encourages children to develop their emotional gifts told through the adventures of native Australian animals. Her new book Backyard Birds is a fun and vibrant picture book for young readers that introduces the colourful birds hiding in our own backyards. With bold illustrations and lively vocabulary, this new release is perfect for the little ones that are just starting out on their reading journey.
