Fremantle Press marketing team says goodbye to Tiffany and hello to Jessica, the new Events Marketing Assistant

The Fremantle Press marketing department welcomes new team member Jessica Checkland to the role of Events Marketing Assistant to replace Tiffany Ko.

Marketing and Communications Manager Claire Miller said Jessica’s background as a bookseller, her experience as an intern at Westerly and her volunteer roles at writing centres made her a strong candidate for the position. She said, ‘Jessica will be a familiar face as she has volunteered at a number of key Fremantle Press events since February 2020. We’ll be very sad to say goodbye to Tiffany Ko, who has done such a fantastic job over a number of years, but we couldn’t ask for a smoother transition.’

Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, with a BA in Writing, Jessica says she’s always had a strong fascination with the marketing and editorial aspects of publishing. She says, ‘I am most looking forward to contributing to the growth and success of Western Australian writers by working alongside the dedicated and friendly team at Fremantle Press. I am particularly excited to coordinate the 2021 Emerging Writers Program in a series of workshops, mentorships and special events for a select group of local writers. The chance to work for a company that fosters growth of, and avidly supports, writers is one that I find invigorating.’

Tiffany Ko played a pivotal role in coordinating events for the successful Emerging Writers Centre Pilot Program supported by the WA Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. She worked on the inaugural and subsequent Fogarty Literary Award ceremonies, the City of Fremantle Hungerford Award ceremonies and Fremantle Press’s Great Big Book Reads. Tiffany’s last day will be Tuesday 6 July 2021. She will be sorely missed and Fremantle Press wishes her well.
