More honours for Stars in Their Eyes

The USA version of Stars in their Eyes by Aśka and Jessica Walton has captured the imagination of librarians and booksellers with reviews calling the book vivid, authentic, delightful, sweet, empowering, cheerful and unforgettable. What a list of adjectives! Today we’re happy to announce that it is also an Honour Book in the Stonewall Book Awards Children’s Category.

Sponsored by the American Library Association’s Rainbow Round Table, the Stonewall Book Awards is the first and most enduring award for LGBTQIA+ books. This accolade follows on from the book making the New York Public Library Best Books for Teens List.

Aśka said, ‘My face hurts from smiling when I think of an audience all the way on the other side of the globe making a connection with our book. Thank you to everyone who made this moment possible, by being part of the publishing journey with us.’

Stars in Their Eyes is a captivating graphic novel about Maisie, a kick-ass amputee trying to enjoy her first Fancon and her first real kiss without accidentally inspiring someone or being embarrassed by her nerdy mum.

The Australian version of Stars in Their Eyes is available from all good bookstores and online. The American version is published by Graphix, a graphic novel imprint of Scholastic Books.
