Get ready to celebrate a Kylie Minogue Christmas in the most unique and festive way imaginable! Books at the Brewery is back for its annual Christmas Extravaganza – this year with a glittering, Kylie-inspired twist. Hosted by Northern Books, this highly anticipated event will feature a star-studded panel of contributors from the Music Anthology of the Year, Spinning Around: The Kylie Playlist.

This stunning follow-up to Minds Went Walking: Paul Kelly’s Songs Reimagined and Into Your Arms: Nick Cave’s Songs Reimagined promises an evening of captivating stories, insightful conversations, and the ultimate Aussie holiday vibes; this event is not to be missed!

Taking place at Shedshaker Brewery in the heart of Castlemaine on Wednesday 18 December 2024, the evening will explore the incredible cultural impact of Aussie music icons and offer a unique behind-the-scenes look at the making of Spinning Around.

The panel will feature a stellar group of contributing writers, each sharing their insights into the anthology that celebrates Australia’s music scene and its enduring influence. The event will be chaired by Angela Savage, who co-edited Spinning Around: The Kylie Playlist alongside Kirsten Krauth.

Kirsten Krauth, the anthology’s commissioning editor said, ‘I was keen on writers with original and daring voices, not afraid to experiment and play with different genres. A range of writers with all kinds of styles and experience. The end result? It’s a brilliant mix with lots of surprises! Very funny at times, often with a lightness of touch – and the scary stories still haunt me.’

Also joining the panel will be contributors Nathan Curnow, Chris Flynn, Christos Tsiolkas and Lucy Treloar, who will share their personal experiences and creative journeys. Together, they will explore everything from the process of writing for a music anthology to the broader cultural significance of Australia’s vibrant music scene.
