Track a cursed diamond’s journey around the world

The Hope Diamond may have brought misfortune to anyone who possessed it, but luckily that isn’t the case with our new activity sheets!
Based on the engaging and mysterious tale in The Deadly Diamond by Mark Greenwood, students can put their geography skills to the test and track the diamond’s journey around the world. In our second activity, students can research other famous and deadly gems and create their own trading cards!
Full teaching notes for The Deadly Diamond are also available to download here and include discussion questions and activities such as:
- How does the author use descriptive language to create a sense of mystery or suspense in key scenes?
- Create a print advertisement encouraging people to visit the Smithsonian Institute to view the Hope Diamond, using persuasive language and techniques.
- Explore the where and how of the metamorphic process of diamond creation.
