Invisible Boys series in the AACTA mix

The Stan television series based on Holden Sheppard’s book Invisible Boys has been nominated for two Australian Academy of Cinema Television Arts (AACTA) Awards – for Best Miniseries and Best Editing in Television for episode 9.

Filmed in Perth and Geraldton, Invisible Boys is an emotional tale of individuality and belonging. Written for the screen by a team of queer writers, including a writing credit for Holden himself, the series is raw and authentic, depicting facets of gay sexuality that are often overlooked. Holden said, ‘This production does justice to the rawness and boldness of my punk gay novel, and doesn’t pull a single punch doing it.’

Congratulations to Holden and to the production team of Nicholas Verso and Tania Chambers, Asphodel Films and Feisty Dame Productions / Stan!

The book Invisible Boys won the City of Fremantle Hungerford Award in 2018 and was published by Fremantle Press in 2019, going on to become an Australian bestseller.

Invisible Boys is available in all good bookstores and online.
