In this episode of the Fremantle Press Podcast, Holden Sheppard speaks to Anne-Louise Willoughby about her biography of Australia’s first official female war artist and first female Archibald Prize winner, Nora Heysen: A Portrait.
Here, Anne-Louise talks about why Nora’s paintings of World War II are some of the most significant in Australian art history, how contentious her Archibald win was, and the enduring but competitive relationship she had with her landscape painter father, Hans Heysen.
