Lisa Fuller

Lisa is a Wuilli Wuilli woman from Eidsvold, Queensland, also descended from Wakka Wakka and Gooreng Gooreng peoples. She’s lived in Canberra since 2006 and is currently doing her PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Canberra. Lisa has won a 2019 black&write! Writing Fellowship, the 2017 David Unaipon Award for an Unpublished Indigenous Writer, the 2018 Varuna Eleanor Dark Flagship Fellowship and a 2018 Copyright Agency Fellowships for First Nations Writers. Her debut novel, Ghost Bird, has won the 2020 Queensland Literary Awards, Griffith University Young Adult Book Award, the Readings Young Adult Book Prize 2020 and was joint winner of the Norma K Hemming Award, long form category. It was also an honour book in the 2020 CBCAs Book of the Year Older Reader category and has been shortlisted for a number of awards. Lisa wears many hats in pursuit of her writing, including sessional academic, freelance writer, editor and publishing consultant. She has essays, short stories and poetry published across a number of publications.
